A night shoot on December 27, 1999. This was a scene that didn't appear in the original script - Kate and Jason talking about their fathers. The novel writer wrote a first draft, which I re-wrote into what is pretty much on the screen today. Having spent most of my budget it was just me running camera and Chris holding a flashlight to simulate moonlight. They keep warm in the Jeep as I set up.

Did I mention the temperature hovered right around freezing? They don't look all that cold here or during the actual takes, but when we finished a run through of each scene, they were highly expressive about the chill. This scene was included for the Premiere, but reshot for the distributed copy. This happened when Rick came up to me at the Premiere and said that he wouldn't charge me to re-shoot it - properly lit. What a guy!
